Understanding how to use copyrighted material effectively enhances the teaching and learning process by allowing the user freedom to share, copy, download, duplicate, or transform information without fear of legal, ethical, or financial ramifications. By understanding Fair Use the teacher will have legal access to copyrighted materials.

The TEACH Act allows the use of copyright materials for educational purposes in distance education which is the era we are in now. The main purpose is to protect copyright for digital environment and the online learners. The TEACH ACT serves as an extension of copyright laws, the materials can be used for an indefinite time as long as it was obtained legally, and the teacher makes a reasonable effort to protect the material by having a:

1. Watermark 2. Restrict printing 3. Use low resolution images

To determine FAIR USE determine:

1.Purpose and character of use

2.Nature of work

3.Amount of portion used in relation to the whole work

4.The effect of the use on the market value

Teachers must understand

1.Must be same as face to face

2.Must be related to content

I have found the videos, readings, and information in this week's assignments to be a bit overwhelming, I do no feel that I have a clear understanding of what is required on each type of work in the classroom. I will continue to read and study the details because this information is critical to education and the students!
